Sunday Morning: Behind the Scenes
There is a lot that happens on a Sunday morning behind the scenes. Creating a space in the West-hall that is inviting and beautiful is our goal as we participate in what God is doing.
We have three important serving opportunities in the booth:
Sound: Sound Engineering
On a Sunday morning we want to create an enviroment where people can recognize God’s presence. A major aspect of this is done through how the space sounds. Sound engineering is an art form and good sound engineers are artists. Good sound engineers like to listen to music regularly, to train their own ears and hone their instincts. Through singing, scripture reading, the Creed and preaching good sound is necessary for God’s Church to be formed in the likeness of Jesus.
Visual: Pro-Presentor
The visual aspect on a Sunday morning is vital to how we worship here at Westside. We have four screens that provide the opportunity to have lyrics, scripture, photos, creeds, and more displayed to the whole congregation in the Westhall and at home on the livestream. This is an important and simple serving opportunity to help our community participate in the service.
Media: Cameras
On our livestream we have people join us from all over the world. Consistently we have over 200 people watch our service on a Sunday morning. This could not be done well without our camera operator. Camera operators find the right shots at the right time giving a visual representation of what we are doing on a Sunday morning to those watching at home.
All our volunteers in the booth are crucial in making our services both in person and online a positive experience for everyone. We have needs in sound, lyric slides, and cameras. No previous experience is needed for cameras and lyric slides. We can train you! Email Tyson at tmccombs@wkc.org if you are interested in joining the team. We look forward to having you join us!
