Next Step Ministries

We have a monthly group cooking session with the participants of the Next Step Ministries day program (there are 8 total when the program is full). Pam Eike facilitates the sessions (Certified in Holistic Nutrition) and along with Volunteers in the WKC kitchen we cook 3-4 recipes, doubling each and the participants get to take it home. The cooking class focus’ on the community of cooking together (everyone participates) as well as food literacy and confidence. WKC donates the grocery costs and kitchen and we donate the time. These ladies leave with delicious healthy food, recipes and skills to make them at home!

We made 4 recipes, 3 of them doubled this week (banana bread, black bean burrito filling, cabbage roll soup and liver by request of one of the participants).
