WKC Kids Camps

This July we held our first VBS camp since pre-covid. The camp was offered over 3 full days – VBS in the morning with off-site excursions in the afternoon. The camp served 29 campers, 6 Jr Leaders and 6 Leaders (containing both Staff and Volunteers.) Many campers were not WKC Kids, but friends invited along.

Kids were excited to return to camp each morning and were begging for camp to not be over, come the Friday. Our Jr leaders (Grade 7-9) are the ones to celebrate this month – We had two young people join us who are not regular attenders of Sunday Services or Wednesday Youth but are connected to WKC only by family. One of these young people served by caring for a Grade 4/5 crew; this crew had challenges, but the Jr leader was able to care for the campers in his crew well, diligently getting to know each of them and patiently leading each of them in the way the needed. The other served one of our Jr Crews – there were beautiful moments of relationship connection, and leadership also built in her crew, both between her and the campers but her partner Jr Leader as well.
