Hands at Work Update
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been plagued with decades of war. Hands at Work has been serving in DRC communities devastated by this unrest since 2006. The northeastern province around the city of Goma has continued to experience the constant threat of rebel attacks and war. The level of violence has increased over recent months, affecting communities where Hands at Work serves, resulting in the children and families in the community of Luhonga and Katembe having to flee their villages under extremely violent circumstances. Most of the children and families from Luhonga have made it to Goma, where we've set up a refugee camp. But children and families in Katembe as well as those remaining from Luhonga, are fleeing the increasing violence right now.
Pray that our families can make it to safety, and eventually to our camp outside Goma. Pray for the protection of the camp which is at risk of rebels overtaking as well. Pray for our young boys to not be taken as soldiers. Pray for our local team in Goma, led by Bindu, who are responding to this crisis and in need of God's wisdom and strength.
