Baptism Sunday
Thank God for a beautiful Baptism Sunday!
Baptism is an act of surrender and trust in what Christ has accomplished. As a Church we were able to celebrate 10 individuals joining into the beauty of what it means to be in Christ - to die and be raised to new life. Each candidate surrendered themselves to the love of God knowing even in death God will hold them and bring them out into new life. We want to thank them for their courage and for all who came to support these individuals.
Below is the liturgy and prayers said over the canidates.
Baptism
“I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen”
Anointing with Oil and Blessing
“You are sealed by the Holy Spirit in baptism, marked as Christ's own forever. Amen and amen.”
“Walk in the faith of Christ, crucified and risen. Shine with the light of Christ.”
Rememeber your Baptism
“Remember your baptism. Remember the faithfulness of God to you. His love never, ever fails. You are sealed by the Holy Spirit in your baptism, and you have been marked as Christ's own forever. Amen and amen.”
Welcome to the baptized
Let us speak these words of welcome over the newly baptised:
We receive you into the household of God. Confess the faith of Christ crucified, proclaim his ressurection and share with us in the royal priesthood of all his people.
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. By one Spirit we are all baptised into one body. We belong to him through faith, heirs of the promise of the Spirit of peace.
