Signposts on the Journey: finding our way with the help of the Psalms
Lent 2013 begins Wednesday, February 13 and concludes Saturday, March 30.
As we do every year at this time, we invite you to deepen your experience of this holy season by joining us in spiritual retreat. This year, Dr. Paul Day will join WKC pastor Bob Osborne for an exploration of how the biblical Psalms serve our spiritual journey. Talks, guided prayers, and conversations will form the essence of these very special days. Make the investment of a weekend: you will be changed.
RETREAT TEACHERS:
Dr. Paul Day is a former pastor and leader at Westside King’s Church who is known for bringing a refreshing perspective to the realities of the spiritual journey. His experience working as a psychologist and humanitarian has exposed him to many of the complexities of life, pain, poverty and faith. He will help engage in an honest dialogue with the Psalms.
Rev. Bob Osborne is Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Westside King’s Church. He has carried a long-time appreciation for the life of prayer and particularly as we learn to pray from the psalmic tradition.
PLACE:
Mount St. Francis Retreat Center is a Franciscan friary and retreat center located on the outskirts of Cochrane, AB. (www.mountstfrancis.ca). It is situated on 500 acres among the beauty of the Rocky Mountain foothills. Simple, clean rooms contain a single bed, desk, and sink. Bedding and towels are supplied. An outstanding kitchen staff provide deliciously wholesome dining. Google map it at 41160 Retreat Road, Cochrane AB.
SCHEDULE:
Friday, March 1: registration and gathering at 7 pm, session at 8 pm
Saturday, March 2: meals at 8 am, noon, and 5:30 pm; sessions at 9:30 am, 1 and 7 pm
Sunday, March 3: meal at 8 am, session at 9:30 am; noon dismissal
COST/REGISTRATION
Option 1 – the full experience includes two nights accommodation (single rooms only), all meals, access to friary library and grounds, and all teaching sessions. Early registration is $210 (if made by February 10) and $235 after. We think this is the best option.
Option 2 – everything above (including meals), but without the stay over. If you absolutely must stay at home in your own bed, but want to fully participate in the weekend, the cost is $150. We expect persons who take this option to participate in all meals and sessions.
Refunds subject to $50 cancellation fee. No refunds after February 25.
